Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will I need to fill out any paperwork before my session? A: I am a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals and Associated Skin Care Professionals, and because I desire to protect clients from services that may be harmful to their health, I require all clients of Inner Connection to fill out a health history which gives me valuable information about your health, past or current injuries, and medications which you may be taking. Clients receiving waxing or chemical peel services will be asked to sign for the service each time, indicating they have been made aware of the risks involved in receiving such services.
Q: Is the information I provide you confidential? A: Client information is considered confidential and will never be shared except with the client's written permission. I consider it a moral and ethical obligation to report any criminal activity that might endanger the client's or others' safety, and will report such activity to appropriate authorities.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment or do you accept walk-ins? A: Clients are seen by appointment only. For information or to schedule an appointment, please contact us.
Q: I have never had a massage before. What is a typical session like? A: I ask new clients to arrive 15 minutes prior to their first appointment, where they are given a health history to fill out. The health history contains important information, so that as a healthcare provider I can make informed decisions about what type(s) of bodywork are appropriate, especially in the presence of certain health conditions. I consider myself your co-therapist and will make every effort to answer all your questions and explain any bodywork modalities that we choose to implement during your session. I will then leave the room so you can undress and get comfortable under a sheet and blanket on a heated massage table. You will be covered throughout the entire massage, and only those body parts receiving massage will be uncovered. Following the massage I will leave the treatment room, allowing you sufficient time to dress, and then we will discuss any follow-up recommendations to enable you to maintain the effects of the massage after you leave (stretching, hydration, ergonomics, etc.). If you are receiving Integrative Therapies, many of those modalities are done while you are fully clothed, so undressing (as in a massage) is unnecessary.
Q: What kind of energy work do you do? Is it like Reiki or Jin-Shin? I often get asked what kind of energy work I do. I am not trained in Reiki or Jin-Shin, but I would imagine all forms of energy work have a common component - INTENT - and working with the flow of Universal energy that is available to anyone. I call the form of energy work I do Integrative Therapies because it's an integration of several kinds of healing energy work that I have pulled together from the various training methods and modalities that I have learned over the years, as well as guidance I receive from my Higher Self, Spirit Guides, Angels, and Ascended Masters throughout any given treatment. Integrative Therapies is a name I've developed to describe a customized approach to energy work utilitizing highly developed intuitive skills, channeling Universal healing energy, and hands-on healing.
Q: What kind of training do you have to do energy work? Is it a gift, or can anybody learn how to do it? Everyone is intuitive. I like to make the analogy of a radio station. Most of us have access to radios, and we have a choice of what station to set the radio at. Intuition is the same thing; I have simply chosen to set my "station" at a certain frequency that allows me to tap into higher levels of consciousness than we are normally aware of.
I began my training following a severe car accident with a subsequent "miraculous" healing following 18 months of traditional allopathic therapies and being told I was going to have to live with a traumatic brain injury. That wasn't a viable option for me to live a joyful, healthy life, so I began seeking out anything that might help me get better. Seeking out my own healing led me to begin my training in developing intuitive skills, which has evolved over several years and several teachers to include chakra and aura repair, healing, and reconstruction; advanced clarivoyant tools; deprogramming and releasing negative energy; understanding and aligning the energy centers of the body (meridians, chakras, energy pathways, etc.); tools to remove fear, pain, and other dense frequencies / emotions / traumatic patterns from the physical, mental, emotional bodies; Mother Mary and Christ-Force healings; working with healing guides; reading and healing past lives; balancing masculine and feminine energies; intuitive coaching; cellular rewiring & reprogramming; communicating with and healing animals; communicating with and channeling (also called trance-mediumship) spirit guides, healing guides, Angels, Archangels, Ascended Masters, and Creator; working with the personal power field; transmuting lower vibrations/energies/frequencies utilizing divine rays of light; working with and re-negotiating Soul Agreements with Guides and the Councils of Elders; and much, much more!
Q: Do you offer referral incentives? A: Your referrals are the highest compliment you can give to the work I do. As my way of saying "Thanks for sharing," each new client that you refer receives $10.00 off their first visit, and you receive $20.00 toward your next session valued over $60.00. So if you refer anyone, please tell them to mention your name!
Q: I'm on a budget. Do you offer any discounts or special offers? A: Monthly Specials (offered occasionally) and Package Discounts are available. Please see the newsletter page or contact us to request information, or request to be added to the e-newsletter mailing list. Additionally, I am a provider for the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation. If you have cancer and would like to receive massage, energy work, or skin care services, please contact the Fish Foundation to set up an appointment (fees paid by the Fish Foundation).
Q: What kinds of payments do you accept? A: Payment is accepted in the form of cash, personal or business check, or you may use a credit card through our website by setting up a free secure PayPal account. If paying by cash I don't always have change available, so please bring exact change. If you elect to use PayPal you must pay in advance for your session and bring proof of payment with you (printed receipt). Gift Certificates are just like cash. If you are redeeming a Gift Certificate you must bring it with you in order to receive your scheduled treatment.
Q: I am coming in for a massage (or facial, wax, etc.), but I am unsure about tipping etiquette. A: I'm not entirely certain about how the concept of tipping evolved, or about tipping etiquette in all situations. However, a 15-20% tip is a commonly accepted practice with regard to massage therapy and skin care services. I do accept tips, but I don't expect them. Please feel free to use your judgment regarding tipping.
Q: What is your cancellation policy? A: Appointments not canceled at least 24 hours in advance (non-emergency situations) will be billed at the full rate of the type of therapy scheduled, and future appointments will not be scheduled until cancellation / no show fee is paid in full.
Q: Do your Gift Certificates have an expiration date? A: Yes. I occasionally change the types of services offered based on demand, seasonal availability, and scheduling availabiility. Gift Certificates must be redeemed within 3 months of purchase to ensure that the service purchased is still offered. If you misplace your gift certificate, I do keep a computerized record of gift certificate purchases, so please call or e-mail to let me know. If you wait until the last minute to schedule an appointment to redeem a gift certificate you may not get an appointment in time, thus forfeiting your gift certificate. I recommend scheduling at least 30 days in advance of the expiration date.
Q: If I purchase a package how long do I have to use it? A: Packages must be used within 6 months of purchase (exceptions are made for larger package denominations). If you purchase a package, please make sure you will be able to redeem the full amount of services, as refunds are not available.
Q: Do you sell gift certificates for services and denominations not listed on your order form? A: Yes, Gift certificates are available in any denomination and for any service offered. Please contact us to make a purchase.
Q: Do you offer refunds on Gift Certificate or Package purchases? A: No, there are no refunds on Packages or Gift Certificates.
Q: I would like to use my gift certificate, but I realized that I allowed it to expire. Will you accept it? A: Gift Certificates are honored for 3 months from the date of purchase. Please schedule your appointment at least 30 days in advance of the expiration date to ensure that you are able to redeem it.
Q: I was given a gift certificate but I don't really want any of the services you offer. What are my options? A: Gift certificates are non-refundable, but you are more than welcome to "gift" the certificate to someone who would appreciate it.
Q: Is there anything else I should know before I schedule an appointment? A: Yes!
1. I reserve the right to refuse service to any client with or without reason.
2. Please respect the time that I have set aside for your appointment by arriving 5 minutes PRIOR to your scheduled appointment time as I usually have a full schedule with clients scheduled before and after you. Appointments begin and end promptly. If you are late, you will only receive the amount of time left, and will be billed for the entire session.
3. I consider it a priviledge and an honor to do work that I love. Toward that end, I am a member of ABMP (Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals), as well as Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP). I adhere to all of their ethics policies and do not engage in or solicit any type of inappropriate relationship with any client under any circumstances.
4. I ask that you avoid wearing perfume, cologne, essential oils, or scented lotions or body products if at all possible (including cigarette smoke). Many clients (including myself) are highly allergic to chemicals & synthetic scents. If you are wearing perfume or cologne, or have recently smoked a cigarette it may affect my ability to provide services to you. |
